Steven D. Sharp

Steven Dean Sharp passed away on September 1, 2018 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sheridan on June 14, 1954 to Roy Marion and Margaret Marie Sharp. Steve attended Sheridan schools K-12 and also attended Sheridan College. Soon after graduating high school, he started working in the oil fields around Casper. He quickly worked his way up to a Geologist on the rigs. His work took him to fields in the United States and Canada.When he was in Calgary Alberta he met his future wife Merla Jean Taylor. They were married in Okotoks Alberta on May 27, 1978, They made their home in Okotoks and welcomed their daughter Danielle Marie on June 18, 1979. Their son Clifton Randall followed on January 1, 1982.While serving on the Volunteer Fire Department in Okotoks, Steve obtained his first Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) license. This would end up shaping his life for the next 30 years. He worked in emergency medicine in Canada, U.S. and the former Soviet Union. The family moved back to Sheridan in 1994, and he was hired by Sheridan 911 Ambulance. While there he became one of the first Paramedics in the state of Wyoming. When Sheridan Fire merged with Sheridan Ambulance, he became the oldest rookie firefighter in the state. He retired from Sheridan Fire in 2010. Steven thoroughly enjoyed serving the people of his community and the brotherhood of his fellow fire fighters. Steven is survived by his wife of 40 years Merla, daughter Danielle Dickie (Jason) of Van Nuys, CA, and his son Clifton Sharp of Sheridan. He also has extended family throughout the US and Canada.Steve was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-brother Herb (Vicki) Schroder.Steve requested that he be given one final ride in a fire truck and that no services would be provided. His final ride will be Friday, September 14, at 1:00 pm. If you would like to see Steve off for his final ride, feel free to join us!
