Stephen Leon Vinot, 86, formerly of Dayton, WY passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Basin, WY with his wife of 64 years by his side.
Steve was born in Dixon, NM to Albert and Dena (Chase) Vinot on May 7, 1936. When Steve was 12 years old his family sold the dairy farm and moved from Taos, NM to Casper, WY where graduated from Natrona County High School. Steve was a veteran and served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle Bar, Expert Medal and Carbine Bar. He was stationed in Fort Mead, MD working with 90 MM Cannon and later in Alabama to teach CBW (Chemical Biological Warfare). He married Margret Watson on May 2, 1958 in Casper, WY. Steve worked for Safeway and Albertsons as a manager for several years and various ranches. In 1974 he found his passion at the Padlock Ranch in Dayton, WY until his retirement in 2000. Steve continued to work 7 more years at SKVLLC in Wright, WY. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling and was also a horseman. Steve was very talented in welding, metal work and carpenter work.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Myron who passed away in 1947.
Steve is survived by his wife Margret, his children Stephen (Kathy) of Sheridan, and their children Sheena (Will) Sibra of Corpus Christy, TX, Steve of Sheridan and Shelby (Taylor) of Wright, WY; son David (JoDell) of Lynch, NE, their children Jake (Crystal) and Samantha Vinot of Gillette, WY; daughters Deborah (Mike) Zinteck of Sheridan, and their children Haley (Jeremiah) of Billings, MT, Wyatt of Billings, MT, Ryan (Tawny) of Rapid City, SD, Tyler of Sheridan; Karen (Sam) Heine of Beach, ND and their children Mike Clark and Sarah (Patrick) Dockter of Beach, ND; his sister Sis Wells of Las Vegas, NV, 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen, David and Karen.
Funeral services will be held later this summer. Burial will follow at Dayton Cemetery with Military Honors.
Memorials may be given to the Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan.
