Ronald Wayne Prestfeldt
About:
Ronald Wayne Prestfeldt, affectionately known as “Archie,” went to heaven August 25, 2026, after a life filled with friendship, laughter and, most of all, love of family.
Ron was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on July 27, 1948, to Carl and Marguerite (Nelson) Prestfeldt. He was the second child in the family, with an older brother, Carl, and younger sisters, Serine and Signora.
Ron attended Sheridan schools, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1967. He went on to attend Sheridan College. After college, Ron worked for a time at his grandfather’s company, N. A. Nelson Construction, before beginning his career as a professional land surveyor. He earned land surveying licenses in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Utah and built his own business, Prestfeldt Surveying.
Ron married Patricia “Patti” Carroll on March 18, 1978, and they shared wonderful adventures together. They welcomed their daughter and greatest joy, Cassie Carroll Prestfeldt, in 1988. Their family was completed with the addition of Cassie’s husband, Corey, and their wonderful grandchildren, Caydence Carroll and Colby Wayne. Ron was a devoted husband, father and Bapa.
Ron was funny, honest and loyal. He treated people fairly and was someone his family and friends could depend on. Though he worked hard, he also knew how to enjoy life. Sports were an important part of Ron’s life from an early age. He began playing city league basketball at the age of 18 and continued playing well into his 60s. Ron loved hunting, fishing and golf and was a great skier, belonging to the National Ski Patrol. After Cassie was born, some of those activities became family adventures. Over the years, Ron and Patti traveled to Mexico with Cassie and to Alaska, where they fly-fished for enormous rainbow trout.
Ron cherished his friendships, many of which lasted for decades. His friends have countless stories about him—oh, the stories!
As a member of First Baptist Church, Ron’s quiet faith in Jesus became a steady source of strength.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Patti; his daughter, Cassie Carroll Clawson (Corey); two precious grandchildren, Caydence Carroll Clawson and Colby Wayne Clawson of Windsor, Colorado; his sister, Serine Graham; and his brother, Carl, both of Arizona. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jane Carroll, Catherine (Vali) Kiaie and Margaret (Curt) Sare. His nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews loved their Uncle Ron.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Carl and Marguerite Prestfeldt; his sister, Signora; his sister-in- law, Wendy Prestfeldt; and his brother-in-law, David Graham.
Ron leaves a legacy of memories, and he will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
