About:

Robert Elmer Hollinger went to be with his Savior and wife on April 27, 2020 after a short illness in the home he built in Ranchester, Wyoming. Bob was born on May 13, 1929 (his mother swore it was on a Friday 13) in Sterling, Colorado to Elmer and Grace Witter Hollinger, the oldest of 5 siblings.Bob attended school in Snyder, served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1953 and went into the Reserves. Robert then graduated from Northwest Nazarene College with a degree in Theology. At NNC he met his future wife, Ida Hatlestead, they were married August 1, 1957. Ida preceded him in death on November 21, 2019.The Fallon, Nevada Church of the Nazarene was Bob’s first pastorate, followed by the Home Gardens Church, Reno, Nevada and Ely Nevada Nazarene Church, where Bob & Ida served for 28 years. After retiring in Ranchester they continued on a part-time basis with the Sheridan Nazarene church and were instrumental in a substantial addition to the church.Upon settling in Ranchester they purchased a house which they tore down. At 70 years old, Bob started excavating a basement with a pick & shovel until he had a hole big enough to back a truck into to load by hand the dirt excavated. At that point Ida insisted he hire a backhoe to finish the digging. Bob, with some help from close friend Gary Banson and a few others, finished the 3,000 square home they had dreamed of.Bob loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, hiking, prospecting and photography (as in 20,000 pictures!) were favorite pastimes, in addition to shooting, reloading, collecting guns and chasing prairie dogs! During his college years he & Ida were stationed in central Idaho while he worked for the Forest Service maintaining trails and packing out smokejumpers. While packing he grew to love working with mules and learned to distrust and despise horses. He also loved a good practical joke and practiced depreciating humor.Bob is survived by sisters Irene Vancil and Bertha Woodward. Sons; Jim (wife Trudie, daughter Brandi & son Jason and great granddaughter Lauri Sisneros), Dean (wife Vanessa, daughters Whitney, Amanda & son Ryan), Roy (wife Janet, daughters Melinda and Heather), and Wes (wife Tammy and son Elijah), and daughter, Lenita (husband Ron, sons Chris & Kyle). He was preceded by his parents, wife Ida, sisters Mavis Falls and Ellen Lisman and grandson Dade Sisneros.A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
