About:

Robert (Rob) E. Schwartz passed away Father\'s Day, June, 21, 2020 with his loved ones by his side. Proud of his North Dakota heritage, he was born July 14, 1954 to William R. and Phyllis (Larson) Schwartz in Richland, Washington. He returned to Sheridan at the age of 3 with his parents and older brother to work in the family-owned Sheridan Greenhouse and Flower Shop. Rob attended local schools and was a 3-year letterman swimming for the Sheridan Broncs. Upon graduation, he served on the Naval tender USS Piedmont until honorably discharged in 1976. Using skills he learned at sea, he became a master plumber first in the private sector then in 1986 for the Sheridan School District No. 2. Rob retired in 2013 after 27 years. The summer of 1978, Rob was married at the family cabin to Cathleen Carrothers. His pride and joys soon after, first Otto in 1979 followed by Joe in 1983. Only one event surpassed the birth of his sons and that was the birth of his grandson, Otto Douglas, on April 26. 2019. Rob married Julie (Larson) Kinley in 1988 after meeting on a blind date. He had the cabin and she had the log splitter. It was Julie, the mighty mountain man, and the cubs against the world for 31 years and 10 months. Rob was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 8, York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Kalif Shrine. As a third generation Shriner he was bursting with pride when both sons made a fourth generation of Shriners. He served 10 years as director before climbing the ladder to serve as Potentate of Kalif Shrine in 2015. Dear to his heart was serving on the board then becoming president of the North-South Shrine Bowl committee. Rob joined the Klowns, competing and winning alongside his son for the last few years. Rob was an avid outdoorsman and dog lover his entire life. He said he was closer to God when he hunted, fished, snowmobiled, groomed trails, or sitting on the cabin porch. A formidable figure to contend with, Rob had a heart bigger than he was. Rob, the go-to person, was truly loved. The greatness of a mountain comes neither from its height nor from its massive mass; but from the calm of his stance against the harsh conditions of life!Mehmet Murat Ildan Rob is survived by his wife Julie, sons Otto (Mindy), Joe (Cassie), grandson Otto Douglas, brothers Martin (Tammi), Paul (Karen), stepmother Jean Schwartz, four nieces, one nephew, and all those he carried under his wing.
