Randy was born in Virginia, MN on April 2, 1957, the third son of Carl and Rosaline Urick. Randy was raised in Biwabik, MN, a small town on the Mesabi Iron Range in NE MN. Randy graduated from Horace Mann High School in Biwabik, MN “class of 1975”. After graduation, Randy served proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1975-1979.
While residing in the state of VA, Randy met Amy Bunce, his wife and the love of his life. They were married on September 7, 1985 on a broiling hot day in Baltimore, MD. Randy and Amy resided in northern VA for many years, both working in Washington DC. Over the course of his 41+ year career with Verizon, Randy worked with various government agencies retiring as a manager in Dec 2020. Randy attended George Mason University and obtained his degree in Fine Arts graduating Summa Cum Laude. There he studied and later continued his lifelong interest in photography, an interest which began at an early age. Randy took photos for and worked on the Horace Mann High School yearbook “Pine Log” from 1973-1975. Randy’s other interests included astronomy and amateur short wave radio.
After their retirements, Randy and Amy accomplished their dream of moving to WY, landing in Sheridan, a town they both loved. In Sheridan they enjoyed the wildlife, sunsets and the stars, as well as attending the Sheridan Opera House. They raved about the natural beauty of the area and the friendliness of the people.
As Amy suffered increasing symptoms of early onset dementia, Randy was her loyal and attentive caregiver, always putting her needs first. They were true soul mates and their love was lifelong.
