
Phyllis "JOAN" Hendrix
About:
Joan was born Oct.13, 1934 in Trinidad Co. to Sam and Naomi Williams she is the youngest of 4 children. She lived on the family ranch in Kim Co. until 1947 when the family moved to LaJuanta Co. She met her husband J.B. on a blind date and were soon married on Aug. 31,1952 in LaJuanta. J.B. enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Guam. She worked some odd jobs but always said she met some great people that she considered friends. After being discharged they were eventually located in Lake Tahoe CA. Where J.B. worked construction and Joan would help with drawing up plans. In 1961 they welcomed a son Stephen and in 1963 Stefanie was born. Working in construction it led them to Canada where Joan was a stay home mom. They moved back to Sheridan in 1974 where J.B. starting Hendrix Construction and Joan worked on keeping up with the books and payroll until J.B.s stroke in 1979. Taking care of him at home she worked afternoons as a proofreader for over 10 years at 1st Interstate Bank. After J.B. 's death in 1994 she moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to her brother and sister, during this time she took several trips to visit family and friends. In 2014 she moved back to Sheridan where she lived with Stefanie and her son in law until 2024 when she had a fall and had to reside at Westview until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harold and Paul and her sister Juanita. She is survived by her daughter Stefanie, Son in law Steve, 5 grandchildren David, Michael Jeramy, Jacob, and Amanda. 3 great grand daughters Amelia, Kylee, and Layla. The family would like to thank Dr. Laura Ferries, the nurses, aides and all the staff at Westview for her care.
A Celebration Of Life will be held Saturday April 5th, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Ed Soules officiating at Champion Kane Funeral Home. With a Taco Bar reception to follow in the Champion Kane Reception Hall. Internment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
