Paula Mae Mitrenga Diaz, 54, of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016, surrounded by her husband, daughters and sisters at Sheridan Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on May 26, 1962, in Sheridan, WY, to parents Paul Mitrenga Jr. and Marjorie (Collins) Mitrenga.Paula enjoyed cooking, gardening and loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and cared for numerous foster children over the years through the Therapeutic Foster Care Program in which they were charter members. Paula lived every moment to the fullest and had an infectious laugh. She loved with her whole heart and those who had the joy of knowing her knew just how special she was. Her fighting spirit was evident even during the most difficult days.Paula graduated high school from Greybull in 1981. She married her husband John Diaz on July 2, 1982 in Greybull, Wyoming, and they renewed their vows in the Catholic Church on December 7, 1987. They relocated to Sheridan in July of 1989, where they raised their family and made their home. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, nephew Chad, and aunts Carol and Jeanette. She is survived by her husband, John of Sheridan, daughters, Stephanie (Jamie) Aggers, Kelsey (Antoine) Proctor, Annie Diaz all of Sheridan, siblings, Linda (Greg) Filbert of Sheridan, Janice (Willy) Whyard of Kalispell, MT, Lisa Dannels of Sheridan, Paul (Robin) Mitrenga of Bumpass, VA, three grandchildren, Darian, Elliot, Drake and several nieces and nephews.A Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Holy Name Church with Father Robert Rogers officiating as Paula was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Juniper Heights section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
