Paul Henry Treide Jr.
About:
Paul Henry Treide Jr., lovingly known as “Papa” or “Pops,” was born on September 12, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland to Paul and Doris Treide. He passed away on January 24, 2026 in Sheridan, Wyoming.
In 1963, Paul and his parents moved from Maryland to Littleton, Colorado, where he graduated from Littleton High School. He attended Colorado State College, Casper College, and later the University of Wyoming, earning a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.
Paul began his career in advertising and journalism with Neuwirth-Koller Advertising/Denver and Nelly Don/Kansas City. Eventually, all road sled him back to Wyoming and The Gillette News Record and Sage Publishing. He joined The News Record as Advertising Manager and, over time, was promoted to Editor and Co-Publisher. Under his leadership, the publication and his team were recognized in multiple years for publishing excellence. He carried an entrepreneurial spirit through out his career and took great pride in his work and the teams of people he worked along side.
Paul married Carol Ann Anderson in January 1969 in Laramie, Wyoming. Though their paths later changed, their shared commitment to family and friendship remained constant. Together they built a life centered on family and raising two children, Krista Anne Treide (m. Ben Borowski) and Paul Henry Treide III (PJ) (m. Ellen Carroll). He was a proud grandfather to Parker Treide (18), Blakely Treide (15), Reevie Anders Treide-Borowski (13) and Jovie Treide (12). He deeply loved and was incredibly proud of his children and four granddaughters – most recently finding great joy in watching all granddaughters play basketball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football, rarely missing a game — whether in person or faithfully via live stream.
In 2012, Paul moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where he continued to stay active, always ready with a creative business, investment ormarketing idea and always with his quick-witted humor. Known in recent years as the self-appointed “Chief Folding Officer” at Surf Wyoming, he brought dedication, heart and Papa humor to even the smallest daily routines.
Paul will be remembered for his creativity, kindness, and sharp sense of humor. He was passionate about cars and investing, and at heart, he was a proficient writer and loved to draw. Over the years, he also served on various boards in Gillette and valued giving back to the community that meant so much to him.
He is survived by Carol; his children, Krista and Ben, and PJ and Ellen; and his four beloved grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him. When you have the opportunity, cheer on his granddaughters a little extra on his behalf, and if you happen to see an original 1968 red Mini Cooper on the road, think of our Papa.
A private family service has already been held and a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Paul will follow on March 22 from12-2pm at The Mint in Sheridan, Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sheridan County YMCA
