Patrick Dixon
About:
PatrickDixon,76, passed away on December 5, 2025 at his home in Sheridan, Wyoming. Pat was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Powell, Wyoming. He was the oldest of six siblings and looked out for his five younger sisters during childhood and throughout his entire life. He was also quick to be there for other extended family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues who were ill or going through hardships. He did many “secret acts of kindness” over the years that his family often only learned about from the recipients themselves, sometimes years later. He loved baseball and was a member of the Wyoming State Champion Little League team as a boy. In high school, he competed in debate and speech events and acted in plays.
He earned his BA from the University of Wyoming in 1972 and graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Law in 1975. Pat married Pati Grammens in 1969 and they had one daughter, Darcy Dixon, while at UW. Pat subsequently married Kathleen Baker Dixon on March 11,1995 in Casper, Wyoming. They were married until the time of her death in 2019.
Pat started his career working for the law firm Murane and Bostwick in Casper, practiced solo for a time, and then joined the firm Crowell and Chapin with his uncle, Don Chapin, and his cousin, Charlie Chapin. The firm was renamed Crowell, Chapin, and Dixon. Pat completed the final years of his law career working with his wife Kathleen at their Casper law firm, Dixon and Dixon until his retirement. He served on several boards and committees over the years, provided pro bono legal counsel, and/or volunteered for organizations including the Central Wyoming Counseling Center in Casper, Casper Country Club, the Westbrook Village Golf Course Board in Phoenix, Central Wyoming Hospice and Transition, and the Brinton Museum in Sheridan. He also served as Chairperson for the Wyoming State Bar Judicial Conduct and Ethics Review Committee for a number of years.
Pat was an avid birder and fly fisherman all his life. He looked for ward to annual duck and pheasant hunting expeditions every fall with friends from around the country, and was a member of the Audubon Society and Ducks Unlimited. Pat was also a Master Gardener who loved assisting others with gardening questions and tending his own plants, especially his many rose bushes. He enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf, spending time with family, and cooking gourmet meals for anyone lucky enough to join him for dinner. Pat was a first-rate story teller, and could deliver a joke to perfection. Most of all, Pat lived his life to the fullest up to the very end.
Pat was predeceased by his sister Donna Dixon (David Selden), and is survived by his daughter Darcy Dixon (Bret Drury), sisters Margaret Sato, Terry Harley, Shawn Jones (Kenny), and Janet Flynn. He is also survived by his nephews Andy Sims (Addrienne), Matt Sims, Matt Sato Jr., Nate Flynn (Daisy) and Thomas Flynn, and nieces Erin Ford(Ryan), Nicole Harley, Danielle Beickert (Ryan), and Becky Sims, along with a number of grand nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Pat next summer. Donations in his name can be made to the University of Wyoming Foundation, Wyoming National Public Radio (WNPR), Central Wyoming Hospice and Transition, or Central Wyoming Counseling Center.
Champion Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
