Norbert Dennis Faass, 77, of Big Horn, WY, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Sheridan. He was born on January 22, 1941 in Wheatland, WY to parents Norbert and Vira (Boyington) Faass. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1959. Before joining the Navy he worked for Cook Ford, Sheridan Iron Works and in the money cage in the Flamingo Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Dennis joined the US Navy in 1963 and served on the following ships: USS John S. McCain, USS Lenewee, USS Nereus, USS Simon Lake, USS Kiska, and Shore Duty at Brunswick Naval. While assigned to the ships McCain, Lenewee, and Kiska he was in Vietnam delivering US and Korean Marines and ammunition to troops. While on the USS John S. McCain he delivered shore bombardments.From 1974 to 1980 Dennis worked for the Wyoming Highway Department as an equipment operator in Sundance, Basin and Cheyenne. While in Cheyenne he met Cathy and they were married on March 15, 1980. He and Cathy bought the Big Horn Rest Home in 1980. They operated this Foster Care Home for Disabled Veterans until 2002. Dennis volunteered at the Sheridan VA Hospital for 20 years until his health would no longer permit him to get out. He enjoyed working in his shop and yard. When his health limited his actions he played on-line games on his computer. Dennis thoroughly enjoyed when his family would all gather and make his home a little livelier. Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary, Sons, Aaron L. Faass of Granite Canyon, WY and Todd I. Faass of Cheyenne, WY. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Chad Norbert Faass (Amanda) of Bismarck, ND, D\'Andrea C. (Faass) Schwane (Andrew) or Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Joshua A. Faass (Jolene) of Laramie, WY and one Great Grandson Ethan Aaron Schwane. Per his request no funeral services, private services will be held at a later date.The family of Norbert Dennis would like to thank the VA Home Care, VA Mountain View Living Center and VA Medical Unit, all the doctors, nurses and CNA\'s. A big thank you for all the loving care you gave to Dennis over the years. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
