Click for Video Tribute Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and trusted friend of many, Marsha (Estes) Philo of Sheridan, passed away at home on March 7, 2017 at the age of 68 years. She succumbed to the ravages of cancer and its associated ‘treatments’.Marsha was born in Sheridan on June 21, 1948, the daughter of Gilbert and Florence Estes. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1966, and was attending National College of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota for a time, when she met her future husband. She also spent a summer in Grand Teton National Park in the reservations department at Jackson Lake Lodge.She married Linn R Philo in 1968 and her son Spencer B Philo was also born that year in Newcastle, WY. She resided in Newcastle for a time, then moved to Laramie, WY with her family to attend the University of Wyoming. After a year in Laramie, the family moved back to Newcastle, where her husband started work in the oilfield, and Marsha started work at First State Bank of Newcastle.From here the family moved to several oilfield towns around Wyoming, starting in Gillette, where the couple’s second son, Devron W Philo was born in Sheridan, WY in 1974. Then the family moved to Rock Springs, WY for a time, where Marsha worked at Adams Sales in Green River. Next the family moved to Casper, WY, where Marsha worked for First Interstate Bank for several years, and then for Conoco, Inc. She also did special projects for Conoco on the north slope of Alaska.Marsha’s sons, of whom she was extremely proud, graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1986, and 1992, respectively. Marsha followed Conoco to the Gulf of Mexico for 2 years, in Lafayette, LA, and then to Billings, MT, for Conoco Pipeline. She worked for Conoco and Conoco/Phillips until her retirement in 2013 from Phillips 66.She was a breast cancer survivor. She built her dream home in Sheridan, WY, while her husband was working, and was extremely proud of her accomplishments. She wanted everyone to see this beautiful home, but she simply ran out of time to fully complete her plans and enjoy retirement.Marsha loved working for these oil companies in the early years when fun was not necessarily bad. She garnered many lasting friendships through the years, as most would acknowledge her kind heart, strong will, intelligence, and absolute dedication to her family, friends and job. She possessed the uncommon attribute of unconditional love. She was proud of the 50 years with her husband.Marsha had been an avid bowler most of her life, averaging 190+ in college. Marsha cherished the Oklahoma Sooners and was a faithful football fan.*She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, several aunts and uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, two sons and their wives, 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, a brother Doug and his wife Linda of Sheridan, and several cousins.She epitomized courage, and will always be our hero.A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Kane Funeral Home, with Father John Inserra officiating. A reception luncheon will follow at Kane Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Marsha Philo can be made to the OK Kids Korral of the Toby Keith Foundation (www.tobykeithfoundation.org) for children battling cancer at 818 NE 8TH Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73104.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
