Malik Miles Martin Grant
About:
Malik Miles Martin Grant was born on June 6, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a newborn, he was chosen for adoption by Kenneth and Mary Grant of Sheridan, who thereafter became Malik’s father and mother. His forever family would grow to include his 2 brothers Wynton and Kenneth, as well as his sister Mariah.
From the very beginning, those who knew Malik as a child were awestruck by his irrepressible wit and intellect. From the age of 7, he displayed precocious musical talent and would grow into a multidisciplinary musician whose trademarks were his singing voice, mastery of violin and piano, and bold lyricism. Malik’s charisma, as well as his attention to detail, saw him succeed in the hospitality industry. Many in Sheridan had the pleasure of working with him, his character and warmth wore down professional barriers, cultivating friendships wherever he went. Malik approached life with unbridled tenacity, and his future was one brimming with potential and opportunity. Alongside his wife Whitney, their plans were to find a place to make their home, where each would pursue their passions while uplifting and supporting one another. These plans were thrown into disarray when Malik, in early June 2022, was diagnosed with incurable cancer.
Before the diagnosis, they spent time skating around Sheridan, as well as indulging in delicious food, making music, and exploring. They were adventurers who reveled in showing each other new places, cultures, and experiences. They enjoyed watching movies, cooking for friends, and expressing themselves through fashion.
Malik displayed astonishing courage in the face of his diagnosis, unphased by the overwhelming odds. Thankfully, he was not alone in his battle. Whitney stayed by his side through every sign of adversity. Their love was unshakable by cruel circumstances, a beacon of hope and resilience that shone brightest on August 19th, 2023 when Malik was wed to Whitney, his best friend, caretaker, and partner.
The world lost Malik on September 2nd, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving wife Whitney Migrants-Grant; his father and mother Kenneth and Mary Grant; brothers Wynton Grant of Los Angeles, and Kenneth Grant of Sheridan; Mariah Allred, Sister, Issac Allred, Brother-in-law and Kyrie Allred, Nephew all of Belgrade, MT.
In his absence we remember his smile, beaming and electric; his laugh, warm and contagious.
