LeRoy Weaver
About:
View Service Folder LeRoy Weaver, 76, set sail from this life on Thursday, October 24, 2019 during emergency heart surgery at the Billings Clinic, MT. He was born December 14, 1942 in Ellis, KS to Celestine John Weaver and Jeanne Marie Ingram. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1960 and joined the Navy where he achieved the rank of Yeoman First Class (YN1). His duty stations included a few ships as well as several landlocked assignments. He visited many countries while on the ships including England, Korea and the Philippines. When he was stationed at the Pentagon in 1971, he met his beloved wife of 44 years, Roxanna Marie Vigil when she reported there for her first duty station. He often said that the minute he set eyes on her he knew she was the one for him; he just had to convince her he was meant for her. They married on May 11, 1974 at Ft. Myer, VA. His wife moved back to Sheridan in 1977. LeRoy joined her in 1979 upon his retirement from the Navy, and they raised their family here. LeRoy was a hardworking man, detail oriented, ornery, stubborn, and looked like the quintessential grumpy old man as he aged – until he smiled or laughed, then his whole face would light up and his eyes twinkled. He liked a good joke, visiting with his friends, dancing, bowling, woodworking, fishing, playing the slots, and helping people when he could. His music was polka and old-time country western. He enjoyed watching game shows and was a huge Price is Right fan. LeRoy worked at Wyoming Sawmills several years and then at the Sheridan County YMCA for 15 years as maintenance. He continued to work several other jobs including Perkins for 10 years, Ole’s, and the Rendezvous Lounge on a concurrent basis over the years. He retired completely in 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Agatha Weaver and Evelyn Wickham; and a brother, Paul Weaver. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Roxanna Weaver, his three sons and 5 grandchildren; Clayton Travis Weaver (Tiffany), and their children Chase and Isaac, of Cheyenne, WY; Stuart Rian Weaver (Sinthia Kaplan) and their children, Brandt Kaplan, and Peytan and Rian Weaver of Cheyenne, WY; and Philip Kyle Weaver of Sheridan; his brother, Richard Weaver (Kay), of Hays, KS; three sisters, Marge Weber of Boone, IA; Elizabeth Pinney and Lucille Quinby, of Hays, KS; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Sail far and wide, LeRoy. A Viewing will be held at 1:00 pm previous to the Service with Military Honors at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019, at Kane Funeral Home with Father Clark Lenz officiating.
