Kathy Channel, age 56, of Sheridan, WY, went to meet Jesus after a long struggle with cancer on January 22, 2025.

Kathy was a ray of sunshine brightening the days of everyone she met. She enriched our lives sharing our joy and lifting our struggles. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, special friend and caring teacher. She touched our hearts and made us better people. Kathy was born March 8, 1968. She grew up in Yorktown, IN, graduating from Yorktown High School. She earned a degree in Elementary Education/Special Education from Abilene Christian University. She went on to teach at Sheridan College and in the Sheridan County School District. She also taught at Summit High School and was a small business owner in Jackson, WY.

She is survived and missed by her husband Jerry Channel, her children Allison, Charlie (Arlene), Kelly, Ben, Anna, stepdaughter Shania, and two grandsons Wyatt and Jayden. She was the daughter of Lois Schlagel (Larry Calvert) and beloved sister of Sam Schlagel (Lori) and twin sister Kelly Hatch (Jack). She leaves behind her nieces and nephews Kaylie (Ryan), Josh, Kelsey, Kenzie, Jerrod, Jayden, Ella, and great nephew, Cohen.

She is predeceased by her father Bill Schlagel. Kathy will be missed by her family including many uncles, aunts, cousins, and devoted friends and students. For all of us touched by her life may we honor her journey by appreciating every precious moment God grants us.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m with a dessert reception to follow immediately. If you are unable to attend the service for Kathy click on the link below at time of the service to view:
