Katherine Rose Walsh, 85 of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday May 7, 2026, at Westview Healthcare Center.

Kathrine Rose Walsh was born on May17, 1940 to Adolph and Nellie Simmerman. Raised on a farm outside of Rogersville Missouri, Kathy had two brothers and five sisters. They were hard working, barefoot, farm kids who often teased each other. Later, the family would sell the farm, move into town, and she graduated from Rogersville High School. After high school, Kathy married Carl Samdahl, and they would spend their marriage chasing opportunities across Missouri, North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, settling in Wyoming. She worked various nursing jobs while raising her five sons and one daughter. Kathy would complete her nursing education and settle at the VA Hospital in Sheridan.  While at the VA, Kathy would meet Con Walsh, a charming Vietnam vet.

They married in February of 2000 and for14 years, until Con’s death, would enjoy fishing and traveling together. Kathy’s free time was also spent volunteering at the YMCA, watching “Gun Smoke” reruns, and spending valuable time with her family. 

In 2023, Kathy would move into West View Heath Care Center. During this time, she maintained her feisty and quick wit personality garnering the admiration of those around her. She enjoyed the company of her exceptional care givers, friends, and family. She especially enjoyed the companionship of Lyle Smith.

Kathrine was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Nellie Simmermen, her siblings, Ralph Simmerman, Wayne Simmerman, Marcella Burton, Ethyel Cook, Mildred Stark, and Illa Mae Christian. She is survived by her sister Joan Schwartz of Fordland, MO, and her children Kenneth Samdahl (Brenda) of Virginia Beach, VA, Kelvin Samdahl (Rose) of San Diego, CA, Earl Samdahl of Fairbury, IL, Stephan Samdahl, Annetta Sayer (Brett), and David Samdahl, all of Sheridan, WY, and her 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A Viewing will be at 1:00 pm on Monday at Champion Kane Funeral Home.

Interment will take place in the Evergreen section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Rizer officiating.

Champion Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
