Julius “Ben” Nickerson, 84, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, peacefully in his sleep with his wife at his side. Ben was born December 23, 1934 in Seattle, WA to LaVergne and Eva Nickerson. He was the youngest of three children; brother LaVergne Jr. and sister Lois Gyger.Ben joined the Marines in 1952 at the age of 17. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1961. He then went to work at the Boeing Airplane company, going to school to earn a degree in computer programming. He retired in 1995. He and his wife Judi then decided in 2001 to move to Sheridan. He continued his service to his country and community through the following; Mason’s, Shrine where he was a member of the Kalif Oriental Band, Scottish Rite, Marine Corps League, Honor Guard of the American Legion and past Exalted Ruler of the Sheridan Elks. He and his wife have been together over 25 years.Ben is survived by his wife Judi, daughter Pam McElravy (Tim) and son Brian Nickerson (Roxie); stepchildren Ric Green (Tracey) and Jennifer Jackson; grandchildren Devan and Austin McElravy, Sean, Joel and Kelsie Nickerson, Kyle and Emma Green, Elizabeth and Tyler Hansen, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. A Reception will follow at the Shrine.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
