About:

Judy Kaye (Goedde) Aksamit was born on June 11, 1945 in Casper, WY. She grew up in Worland, Wyoming and was the oldest of Dave and Katherine Goedde’s four children.

Along with her siblings Kathy, David, and Mike, they assisted their parents with the Starlight Motel and attended schools in Worland. Judy would eventually earn her cosmetology certificate and enjoyed being a hairdresser in Sheridan for many years.

Judy married Tom Aksamit and began the journey to raise their four children. With the help of family and friends, they built their home on DeSmet Avenue. Judy and Tom spent their free time hunting, fishing, gardening, and food processing. They shared these skills with their children. Judy was known as a great cook; her favorite dishes to prepare were potato salad, cinnamon rolls, and caramels.

Later in life, with a newfound independence, Judy started a new adventure working at the Wyoming Girl’s School. She worked in the dorms and continued to share her love of cooking with the students. She impacted the lives of her students so much so, that for years after, students would continue to write and call her to update her on their lives.

Judy had a wonderful sense of humor and always saw the silver lining in her life. She enjoyed making her family and friends feel special and would be thrilled to fix a

special dish or give a haircut just to brighten someone’s day. Judy’s favorite motto in life was to pay it forward and she embodied that by looking out for those in need and lending a helping hand where she could.

In retirement, Judy enjoyed watching Nascar, completing puzzles, and crocheting. Above all else, Judy loved sitting in her chair with a cup of tea and cat in her lap chatting with friends and family on the telephone. She would spend hours on the phone catching up with loved ones and truly making them feel special.

Judy passed away on January 9th, 2024 at the age of 78 at her home to be greeted by her parents Dave and Katherine Goedde and brother Mike Goedde. She is survived by her sister Kathy Goedde, her brother David Goedde, her children Carrie (John) Rotellini, Susie (Alan) Crakenberger, Shellie (Jeff) Johns, and Thomas Dean Aksamit and her 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Judy’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 25th at 12:00 pm at her son Dean’s house located at 136 Beaver Creek Rd. in Sheridan.
