Joseph A. “Joe” Johnson Passed away peacefully on August 23, 2020. Joe was born in Charlottesville, VA on April 4, 1924 to Herbert and Nancy Hawley Johnson. He was an adventurous soul, spending time in San Jose and Newport Beach, CA as well as Seattle, WA before settling in Sheridan, WY in the early 50\'s. Pryor to coming to Sheridan, Joe spent 20 years in the sales department with Echlin Manufacturing, the leading automotive replacement parts company in the U.S. In April of 1956, Joe married Kathleen Mayer in Story, WY. Together they had one child, Richard A. “Rick” Johnson, Joe and Kathleen later divorced. In 1964 Joe partnered with his friend John Wallace and founded the Golden Steer Supper Club. This would soon become Sheridan\'s premier steak house and a labor of love for both Joe and John. On June 20, 1985 Joe married Eva Fairbanks in Seward, AK. Moving to Big Horn, WY at the Powder Horn, for several years, then the two moved to Hawaii and spent several years there before Eva\'s passing in March of 2009. Joe then returned to Sheridan to enjoy the rest of his life close to family and friends. Joe got immense pleasure through his membership in the Kalif Shrine, Elk\'s Lodge #520, the Masonic Lodge, and the Rancheros Visitadores, a social club based in Santa Barbara, CA. Aside from his favorite hobbies of fishing, golfing and hunting, Joe also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe is survived by his son Richard A. “Rick” (Carla) Johnson of Sheridan, WY, stepson John B. Sheedy of Sheridan, WY, stepson William (Roxanne) Rowley of Sultan, WA, stepdaughter Christine (Ray) Phillips of Kihei, Maui, HI, Thomas (Debbie) Rowley of Idaho Falls, ID, grandchildren Christopher Johnson of Billings, MT, Kellie (Ty) Malia of Billings, MT, and great-granddaughter Grace Malia of Billings, MT. If you were fortunate enough to be a friend of Joseph A. “Joe” Johnson, well let\'s just say you were very fortunate indeed! A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 1:00pm in the Elk\'s section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Juanita Smith of St. Peter\'s Episcopal Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations toward the Elk\'s Cemetery may be addressed to Elk\'s Lodge #520, 45 W. Brundage St., Sheridan, WY 82801.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
