Janice A. Nagel
About:
Janice A. (Woolsey) Nagel, 85, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Westview Healthcare Center. She was born on April 25, 1932, in Wheatland, Wyoming to parents George Gordon and Mae Irene (Barrett) Woolsey. After graduating from Wheatland High School in 1950, Janice worked at a local doctor\'s office. On January 16, 1955 she married Calvin W. Nagel, a lineman with the Rural Electric Association (REA). In the early years of their marriage, the couple purchased a 40 acre farm outside of town. With Calvin on the job with the REA during the day, Janice helped out with farm activities, from changing irrigation sets in hay fields to watching over ewes in the sheep flock during lambing season. For several years, Janice was a successful Avon representative. In 1971 Janice moved with Calvin and their three children to Laramie. Homemaking occupied her during these years. Another move in 1977 landed the family in Rock Springs. Janice worked for a short time in the Tuboscope office, was an active member of her church and served as a volunteer at the hospital gift shop. In 1991 after Calvin retired from Pacific Power and Light Company, the couple headed north. They settled in Sheridan after living in Buffalo and Story for a few years.Janice was skillful in many fiber arts: counted cross stitch, crochet and knitting. A meal often ended with a dessert she had baked--usually a cake or pie. Janice always welcomed visits with family and friends. In recent years reading became a relished pastime. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mae Woolsey, her husband, Calvin, son Kendal, brother Wood, and sister Virginia Norris. She is survived by her children, Devona Nagel and Dean Nagel (Christina) both of Sheridan; grandchildren, Vincent Oltion of Colorado Springs and Keely Oltion of San Francisco; two brothers, George Woolsey (Alice) of Wheatland and Gordon Woolsey (Judy) of Yucaipa, California; several nieces, nephews and faithful dog, Moe.A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of Christ, 1769 Big Horn Avenue on March 31, 2018 at 10:00 am, with Ryan Schasteen officiating.
