James Barry Price, II, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 - EOW, at his residence.The rock of our family left his earthly home on April 5, 2020 to join the heavenly Price family. Barry had a strength that all of us admired. He was loved and respected by his family. He leaves his wife Marilyn, son James D. Navarro (Angie), daughter Holly J. Navarro, grand kids Anthony, Raymond, Ryan and Stacie, 4 great-grand kids. His son and daughter in law followed his footsteps to have successful careers with the Sheriff\'s Department in Riverside County, CA. His brother Larry Price also had a law enforcement tenure until an injury retirement. His sister, RoseMary (Blanton) Dennis reside in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Also many nieces and nephews.Captain Price began his law enforcement career after serving in the U.S. Navy. He joined the Compton Police Department in 1965 and after leaving Compton spent two years with the Miami Police in Florida.In June, 1971 he joined the Huntington Beach Police Department.Captain Price held several positions in the HBPD, forming and commanding the Department\'s SWAT Team for over nine years and commanding the Department\'s Bomb Squad for 10 years.He was the Commander of the Uniform Division which included the Patrol Division and Traffic/Aero Bureau.Captain Price held a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Redlands and graduated from many specialty schools. Those include the Hazardous Device Institute at Redston Arsenal in Alabama and the FBI Counter sniper School in Quantico, VA.There is no doubt today that our beloved Barry can rest on his laurels.Private graveside services with Military Honors will be held.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
