Irving N. Alderson
About:
Irv was a rancher, a horseman, and a world class cowboy - in the arena and on the range. His life was built around cattle and horses and a love of this land and its peoples. He loved dogs, bird hunting, fishing, and rodeo. He was an avid reader and poet. He sang old cowboy songs, knew countless poems by heart, and loved a good joke. He was a master story teller and he loved to dance. Irv was wise, funny, and kind. He always saw the best in people. He was devoted to his friends, his community, and especially his family.

Irv’s first and main love was always Bones Brothers Ranch, and the grass, the land, and waters that sustain it. Irv was proud that the Northern Plains Resource Council had its beginnings in his living room, and that Northern Plains has been vital to preserving and protecting Montana’s working landscapes and ranches like ours.
