Gladys Vivian Zahradnicek Miller, 99, of Sheridan, passed away on July 13, 2026. Cremation has taken place.

She was born November 1, 1926, in Sheridan, WY, the daughter of Edward A, Jr., and Gladys E. (Salveson) Zahradnicek. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945. Gladys married James E. Miller on June 10, 1945.

She lived in Hardin for 79 years until she came to Sheridan to live with her daughter, Nancy. She celebrated her 65th wedding anniversary in 2010.

Gladys worked at Safeway as a meat wrapper for 29 years and retired in 1984. She did a lot of plastic canvas quilting and a lot of other crafts. She and her husband went to Alaska 14 times to fish. She collected around 6000 pairs of salt and pepper, all in glass cases her husband made for her.

Her parents, granddaughter, Lisa Ann Steinmetz, her husband, James, her brother, Bud Zahradnicek, her sister, Letha Kegerreis, and son-in-law, Larry Steinmetz, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Steinmetz of Sheridan; her son, James (Katie) Miller of Hardin; her beloved grandchildren, Jo Lynn (Orges) Gjini, Lonnie (Jennie) Steinmetz, Jessie, and Justin Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Elena and Gabriel Gjini, Kaitlyn and Colter Steinmetz, Tristen, Mathew, Leela, AJA, and Freddy Miller.

A Memorial Service will take place at Bullius Mortuary, in Hardin, Montana on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Big Horn Country Historical Museum.
