Gerhard Muecke
About:
Gerhard Muecke, 96, peacefully stepped into eternity and the loving arms of Jesus, his Savior, in May of 2026, at Cascades of Sugarland Ridge in Sheridan, WY.
Born in Iowa in 1929, to Karl and Julia, Gerhard was the youngest of four siblings. At an early age, Gerhard moved with his family to Wyoming, where they homesteaded a farm. Working hard, doing the right thing, and keeping a positive outlook on life were ingrained in his growing up years with his German heritage. Upon graduation, Gerhard attended two years of college.
As he began to farm in Powell, Gerhard met the love of his life, Donna Mae. They began their farming and family life, being blessed with three children along the way, John, Ron, and Cheryl. With a young family in tow, Gerhard left farming and continued his college education, receiving his teaching degree.
In his first teaching job Gerhard taught middle school math and science and he and Donna were blessed with their fourth child, Daniel. Gerhard loved teaching others, and as an avid learner himself, he was encouraged to pursue a master’s degree in science in the Midwest. Upon degree completion, Gerhard continued to teach math and science for several years, and he and Donna were blessed by the Lord again with another daughter, Bobbi. Their family grew and flourished, as he and Donna lovingly cared for and led their children. Several years later Gerhard, Donna, and the remaining children at home moved back to their roots in Wyoming to care for his mother, the family homestead, and to establish a farm equipment business. After seven years of operating the business with three of his children, hard times hit the farming economy, leading to the sale of the business and a move to Texas. During these Texas years, Gerhard continued to enjoy teaching middle school children as well as adult Sunday School.
Upon retirement Gerhard and Donna moved back to Wyoming, which provided them time to pursue what they loved: being full-time grandparents, travelling the states in their RV, serving faithfully in their church, and an opportunity for Gerhard to hone his woodworking skills. Later in life they moved to Sheridan, as they continued pursuing what they loved and their love for God. After 69 years of marriage, Donna moved to her heavenly home and Gerhard eventually moved to Cascades of Sugarland Ridge, where he was deeply loved and cared for.
Gerhard was a faithful servant of the Lord to the very end. He was a wonderful man who loved his God and his family with all his heart. Gerhard possessed an immensely positive attitude, a quick wit, an adaptable spirit, and a willingness to embrace others with kindness. He will be mightily missed.
Preceding Gerhard in death were his wife Donna Mae; his parents Karl and Julia; his siblings Hans, Martin, and Hilda; and his grandchild Bethany.
Gerhard is survived by his five children: John (Michele) Muecke , Ron (Nancy) Muecke, Cheryl (Jeff) Salsbery, Bobbi (Brent) Mullock, and Daniel (Freddie) Muecke; twelve grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Cascades of Sugarland Ridge in Sheridan for their exceptional care of Gerhard in his last years. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gerhard’s honor may be directed to his church, Grace Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6522, Sheridan, WY 82801, or to a charity of your choice.
A Celebration Of Life will be held, at Grace Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday June 13, 2026, with a dessert reception to follow.
