Gerald “Gerry” William Steil, 68, passed away unexpectedly February 17, 2026. Born July 1, 1957 in Sparta, Wisconsin was the first born child of Dr. William Gerald and Grace Ann Steil.

Gerry graduated from Sheridan High School with the class of 1975. Those that knew Gerry knew that he loved the outdoors; camping, hiking, hunting, and taking long walks which were his favorite past times. He especially loved taking his “girls” canoeing out on the lake. A true do it yourself, Gerry enjoyed working on his own vehicles and took pride in tackling any project that came his way. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and rock music and was a man who valued a quiet life at home.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sarah (Tyler) Bishop of Great Falls, MT. And Caytlin (Scott) Shreve of Ocala, FL. Grandchildren: Faith, Tauren, and Benjamin. Sister Patti (Chuck) McKenzie of Helena, MT. Nephew Steven (Crystal) McKenzie of Helena, MT. And long time companion Dee Davis of Sheridan.

Cremation will take place privately with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.

Military Honors to Honor the Life and Service of Gerry Steil will be held Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM, located at Champion Kane FuneralHome. (689 Meridian St, Sheridan, WY 82801)
