Frederick Earl Moye
About:
Frederick Earl Moye, 65, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at his home in Sheridan. Fred was born on October 18, 1960, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Kenard and Eva Moye. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1978 where he also played football. He then proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed aboard the Midway.
After completing his service in the Marines, Fred returned to Sheridan, where he worked and became a founding member of the band Quatrain. Music was one of Fred’s greatest passions, and he played the bass whenever he had the chance.
He later enlisted again and served with the 1041st Engineer Company out of Rock Springs, Wyoming, from 2006 to 2007. During his deployment, Fred served as a gunner on an up-armored 5-ton truck. He trained for two and a half months at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, and was stationed at COB Speicher. Fred spent over 13 months deployed overseas and was 46 years old at the time of his service—an accomplishment that reflected his dedication and strength. He spent his later life rediscovering past hobbies such as Dungeons and Dragons, and miniature battles. There he could combine his love for both role playing games and history.
He was also a devoted Christian playing bass in his church's worship band. Fred loved the Lord, spending time with friends, playing games, and sharing the many stories and adventures from his life. He was a big man with an even bigger heart, known for his humor, kindness, ,and unforgettable presence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Fred is survived by his sons, Andrew Moye of Virginia and Aidan Moye of Oregon; his sister, Kay Capps; Half Sibling Kerry Moye of Casper and Molly Chapman of Deer Park of Washington and his four grandchildren.
