Evelyn Ann Dovey, 75, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, January 17, 2011 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Dovey was born October 18, 1935 in Monarch, WY to Andrew and Eva (Madzia) Wantulok. She grew and attended schools in Monarch. Evelyn then went to work at Eaton’s Dude Ranch, and while there, met her future husband, William Dean Dovey. The couple was married in Sheridan on August 31, 1951.

Mrs. Dovey worked as a clerk for various businesses in Sheridan, retiring from Angionette’s Store in 2000. She then continued working part-time for the Men’s Shop until her death.

Evelyn enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, especially Pinochle. She was also an avid sports fan, enjoying watching all types of sports.

Mrs. Dovey was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1998; and her parents.

She is survived by two sons, Dean Dovey, (Sue Van Dame), of Cerrillos, NM, and Bruce Dovey, of Sheridan, WY; one daughter, Brenda Odegard, (Dave Price), of Derby, VT; one brother, Harry Wantulok, (Bonnie), of Cody, WY; three sisters, Mary Jane Legerski and Shirley Martini, both of Sheridan, WY, and Francie Johnson, of Idaho Falls, ID; two grandchildren, Chris Odegard, (Tawnya), and Loren Odegard; and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Khloe Odegard.

“No-one has to tell us how lucky we are to have you as our mother, because we have known for a long time. When we remember everything that you’ve done for us we realize that you’re not only a wonderful mom, you’re also a remarkable woman. You’ve taught us so much about living, loving and giving and those are things we will never forget. Please don’t think that we don’t appreciate all you’ve done for all of us, because we do with all our hearts.”

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Dovey will be held from 2:00 P. M. to 4:00 P. M. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Sheridan Senior Citizen’s Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801
