Edgar "Eddie" Henry Donnor
About:
Edgar Henry Donnor “Fast Eddie”. Born July 12, 1927, in Lincoln, England, passed away peacefully & comfortably in his home in Dayton, WY on December 22,2024 at the young age of 97. Eddie served in the Royal Air Force training as a tail gunner toward the end of WWII and became an expert on this subject reading, books & watching any show he could catch. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret whom he married in 1952, 1954 they began a trip that would last a lifetime. Sailing to Quebec Canada he worked for the Trans Canadian Railway until he and Margaret traveled to Michigan where they worked a short time. The next leg of their adventure took them to Seattle, WA.
The original plan was to travel to all four corners of the US and back to the UK, however, fate stepped in, they made their home in Washington where they raised 4 children, Beverly, Robert, Georgina & Elizabeth. Eddie worked in downtown Seattle as a waiter in a few of the high-end restaurants for many years, meeting many famous people including Bob Hope and Bing Crosby to name a few. In the 70’s he started selling real estate, and his compelling spirit made him successful in that as well.
After retirement he learned jewelry making, which became his favorite hobby. One of his proudest moments was when they both became American Citizens. His wandering spirit took the family traveling all over the west, and back to the UK to visit family a time or two. Eddie loved to talk of his family and was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. A true legacy that will go on “forever”. Margaret passed in 2013 in 2016 Eddie moved to Wyoming to live with his daughter Gina at Gallery on Main. Dayton welcomed him & often you would see him at his table relaying stories, working crossword puzzles or winning a pool game. He brought his jewelry business and now many have a “piece of Eddie” to remember him by. Eddie loved getting mail meeting many of the Dayton residents while walking to the Post Office! His favorite pastime was a drive….he loved to go in search of wildlife through the Bighorn Mountains, down the backroads or to the Tongue River Canyon taking pictures of the elk, eagles or anything else that caught his eye! Travelers became friends and returned often to experience another story or share a glass of wine with him… a true legend who will be missed dearly but will live forever in many people’s hearts.
A celebration of life will be held March 29th at 2pm at the Benefit Club Hall in Dayton, WY.
