About:

Douglass ‘Tiny’ Harbel was born June 5, 1950 to Clara and Maurice Harbel in Sargent, Nebraska. He attended Big Horn Schools and Sheridan College. A longtime resident of Sheridan County, Doug operated heavy equipment locally for Sheridan County Road and Bridge, Sheridan County Airport, and Northern Seed, to name a few. Known as the “Human Forklift”, Doug was a man who could get the job done. One of Doug’s favorite jobs was driving a stagecoach at Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone National Park. His love for animals and driving as a service mingled to create the ideal career. This thrill was second only to participating in the wild horseraces at the Sheridan WYO Rodeo. Doug was an avid angler and hunter who developed his passion for the outdoors as a young boy with his father. Later in life, he took great joy planning fishing trips with close friends and family members. Doug also created many artistic designs out of horseshoes and Nebraska Cedar as gifts for loved ones. Doug is preceded in death by his father Maurice Harbel, brother Bruce Harbel, and sister-in-law Donna Harbel. He is survived by his mother Clara Harbel, sister Linda (Marshall) Hanna, his forever friend and partner Teresa Hunter, and numerous family and friends. There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dog and Cat Shelter, 94 East Ridge Rd., Sheridan, WY 82801. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
