Donald Franklin Larsen, 86, of Sheridan went to be with his Savior, Jesus, on February 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.Don was born November 9, 1932 to Jens and Ruth Larsen in Sheridan. As young boys, he and his beloved brother, Leonard, rode horseback to Wolf Creek School. He graduated from Sheridan High School with the class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 as a communication technician which included a tour of duty in Japan.Upon his return to Sheridan after the Navy, on a cold winter night, he met the love of his life, Joanne Skaar. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage and God blessed them with three children; Connie, Debbie and Donnie.Don worked alongside his father and brother in the family business at Sheridan Air Service. As a pilot, he got a thrill out of many hours of adventure in the air. His career included countless years as a dedicated mechanic in the Sheridan area. Don was also a jack of all trades.Through baptism, God made Don a child in His kingdom and he was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He humbly served his Lord and others in a variety of roles at Immanuel Lutheran Church.Everyone who met Don loved him and he never knew a stranger. His happiest times were spent with his family as well as his many friends. As an avid fisherman and hunter, he shared his love of both sports with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite retreats was the family cabin in the Big Horns. He had countless stories to tell about his numerous adventures.Don was preceded in his death by his parents, Jens and Ruth Larsen, sister in law, Shirley (Gene) Songer. He will be missed by his wife, Joanne and his children; Connie (David), Yankton, SD, Debbie (Jim), Queen Creek, AZ and Don (Cheryl) Larsen, Buffalo, WY and his brother, Leonard (Frances) Larsen, Worland, WY, sisters in law, Dee (Gerry) Pelesky, Lorraine Wilson, also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson, many nieces and nephews and cousins.A Viewing will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Kane Funeral Home. Services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul J Cain and Pastor Rene\' Castilerro officiating.Memorials may be given to Martin Luther Grammar school at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1300 W. 5th St., Sheridan, WY 82801.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
