About:

David Dolecheck, 92, of Sheridan, peacefully passed away on March 10, 2025. He was born on the family farm in Dickinson, ND on April 3, 1932 to August and Apolonia Dolecheck, the eldest of 3 boys.

Dave was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, during the Korean War, where he served as a Army Radar Technician. Upon returning to the US, Dave attended NDSSS in Wahpeton, ND, earning an electrical engineering degree.

Dave met Loretta Bullinger in January 1957. They were married in a double ceremony with Loretta's brother, Andy and his bride Sarah, on August 31, 1957. Sadly, Loretta passed away in August 2024, just a few days shy of their 68th anniversary.

Dave worked for Montana Dakota Utilities for 40 years. After living in North Dakota and Montana, Dave transferred with MDU to Sheridan, WY in 1967.

Dave loved to tinker with anything that could be taken apart, fixed and put back together. This “hobby”  became Dolecheck Communications, where Dave was known around town as the guy who could fix anything with electronics.

Dave was a member of Holy Name Church and the Elks Lodge, along with being an avid Ham Radio operator...WA7YZO...Many times he would be on the mountain repairing various repeaters and communication towers. He was also passion ate about repairing Antique radios.

Everyone knew the Dolecheck house, as Dave built a large antenna in the back yard, which he decorated at Christmas with a star that could be seen for miles.

Dave was a doting father and grandpa who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and skills. When his grandson, Blake, was born, he found his “mini me”. There was an amazing, special bond between them.

Later in life, Dave enjoyed drawing and painting. Much of his artwork can be found on various bulletin boards, desks and walls at Westview Health Care Center, where he was a resident for the past few years.

Dave was preceded in death by his infant son, Bradley, his wife, Loretta, both of his parents, and brother, Richard. He is survived by his Brother, Arnold, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Connie and Sam Baer of Groveland, FL, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Tarra and Jack Donahue of Sheridan, Grandson Blake Donahue and his wife Kaitlynn, Granddaughter Marra Donahue and 3Great-Grandsons (August, Dexter and Greyson).

The family would like to thank everyone who knew Dave and called him friend. Thank you for being a part of his life.
