Itis with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Billy Stanley Bowers, a cherished husband, father, grand father, great-grandfather, and veteran. Billy was born on November 12, 1953,and departed this life on January 19, 2025, at the age of71.
Billy’s life was marked by love, dedication, and achievement. He married his high school sweetheart, Pam Cagle Bowers, and together they shared a lifetime of joy and adventure until Pam’s passing in 2022. Pam Doris Cagle Bowers will be with Billy at the service to honor her as well, she will be right beside the anchor. They were the proud parents of two daughters, Amy Beth and Robin Nicole, and Billy was a devoted grandfather to four grandchildren and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his 22 years of distinguished service as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Enterprise, USS Roosevelt, and USS Midway, Billy was passionate about education. He earned an associate degree from South Plains College, a bachelor’s degree from Lubbock Christian University, and a master’s degree from Highlands University. His commitment to learning and self-improvement inspired those around him.
Billy traveled the world with his family, creating countless memories and sharing his wisdom, humor, and unwavering love. He was a man of integrity and strength whose influence will be felt for generations.
A celebration of Billy’s extraordinary life will be held at First United Methodist on January 27th at 11:00am. We invite all who knew him to join us in honoring his memory.
Billy, you were the anchor of our family and a light in our lives. Fairwinds and following seas—you will always be in our hearts.
