Bettye M. Wamhoff, 86, of Sheridan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Sheridan Manor surrounded by her family.Bettye was born on August 31, 1926 in Gillette, WY to Larry and Clara (Cates) Butler. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1944. She married Dale Wamhoff on September 19, 1948 in Buffalo, WY.Over her 60 plus years she lived in Sheridan, Bettye\'s career involved working twenty seven years with the Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a Operator, after retiring the phone company, she started another job as a Detention Officer for the Sheridan County Sheriff\'s Office.Bettye enjoyed reading, trips to Deadwood, Denver Broncos football, Fantasy football, spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, special mother, adoring grandmother, and delighted great grandmother.Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Clara Butler, Husband, Dale Wamhoff, Brothers; Jack and Daniel (Danny) Butler, Sisters; Georgie Lee Morse, Kathleen Spangler and Mary Laird. She is survived by her Daughter, Lisa (Bill) Hamby of Sheridan, grandson, Jason (Stephanie) Hamby of Sheridan, granddaughter, Samantha Hamby of Bozeman, MT, great-grandson, Elam Hamby (her pride and joy), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral Services for Bettye will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Kane Funeral Home with Father Edward Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Elks Memorial Cemetery with a reception at the Kane Reception Hall.Memorials to honor Bettye may be made to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter at 84 East Ridge Road, Sheridan, WY 82801Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
