Bernice Ida Kobielusz
About:
Bernice Ida Kobielusz, 90, of Sheridan, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday March 28 th , 2024.
Bernice was born February 8, 1934 to Paul and Olga (Takach) Sturtz in Monarch, Wyoming, being the fifth child of nine. She attended grade school in Acme and
bused to Sheridan for high school. On April 4, 1952, Bernice married the love of her life, Paul Tom Kobielusz in Sheridan. From this union they had five children,
Paula, Rebecca, Timothy, Lisa, and Jody. Paul and Bernice raised their family near Big Horn and Bernice remained in the house they built until the time of her death.
Bernice worked in the food service industry for Boyd’s, XL Lounge, and Sheridan Manor for twenty plus years until her retirement at the age of 74. Bernice was
widely known for her wedding cakes and made hundreds of them over the years for her family and friends. She made her last wedding cake at the age of 80 for
her granddaughter Sarah’s wedding and it was the most grand of them all.
Bernice always cooked magnificent meals for her family during the holidays, especially Christmas, where the family drove from all around for her famous clam
chowder soup, Polish baked goods, and her million dollar fudge.
Memory of Bernice would not be complete if there were no mention of her dolls. Bernice collected dolls her entire life. She took pride in her collection of quality
crafted porcelain dolls and showed everyone who visited her. She also refurbished family heirloom and even garage sale find dolls, making them look
new again. She was an excellent seamstress and made countless outfits over the years. The grandkids could bank on getting at least one stuffed animal at
Christmas or Easter, dressed to the nines with a handmade outfit. Bernice enjoyed embroidering where she spent many hours turning shirts, pillows, tea
towels, curtains, anything that had space for a pattern, into a fine masterpiece. Bernice’s desire to make all things pretty will be deeply missed.
