Barbara Jean Simon, 87, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Westview Healthcare Center.Barbara was born on September 6, 1935 to Phillip and Juanita Dunn in Oakland, California. She grew up in Oakland, and moved to Sheridan in 1947. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1950, and married William Simon later that summer. Together they had three children: Dorothy Simon, Cheryl Auzqui and Jerry Simon. In the late 1950s, Barbara worked as a registration clerk at The Sheridan Inn. She was asales clerk throughout her life, working in Sheridan at Chapek’s, Boyd’s Supermarket and Salvation Army Thrift Store. She loved fishing, word search puzzles and the ColoradoRockies.Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma (Roman) Legerski. She is survived by her children Jerry (Carolyn) Simon of Kingsville, TX, Dorothy Simon (JohnLegerski), Cheryl (Frank) Auzqui, both of Sheridan, granddaughter Darcie Achord of Sheridan, Deidre Murchison of Austin, TX, Richard Merchanson of Seattle, WA, andgrandchildren Carter and Grant Achord of Sheridan, along with several nieces and nephews.Memorials to honor Barbara can be made to the Goose Creek Transit at 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801. A special thank you to Westview Healthcare Center for theircaring support throughout the years.Cremation has taken place, and services will take place at Sibley Lake in September.
