Arthur (Art) George Felker went to his heavenly father on August 7, 2017, at the Sheridan VA. Art was born on January 21, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Arthur G. and Marian (Boudot) Felker. He was raised in Cincinnati and later moved to Minneapolis where he attended school and graduated from Central High School and the University of Minnesota. During this time, he met the love of his life, Janet Fulson. Art enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed on Governor’s Island in New York. During leave the couple were married on January 2, 1954, in Minneapolis and immediately left for New York to begin their lives together. Along the way, they had three children, Debbie, Jeff and Paul.Art followed his father’s footsteps in the retail clothing business which took them from Minnesota, Montana and then to Sheridan, WY, where he owned and operated Stevens Fryberger from 1968 until it’s closing in 1995.In Minnesota he was active in the Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and American Legion to name a few.One of his greatest accomplishments was being selected as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Men of America in 1964. This award was followed by a celebration in their home attended by Hubert H. Humphrey.In Sheridan, Art was active in American Legion Baseball, served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Association. He was a director at First Interstate Bank and on the board of the Sheridan College Foundation. He was also a member of Holy Name Church and served on the Holy Name School Foundation Board.In 2001, Art was given the privilege of serving as President of the Bryan, Thorne Rider, and Griffith Foundations. He took great pride in helping to provide grants, scholarships and donations to the youth and organizations of Sheridan, especially Sheridan College.Art was an avid golfer, bowler and fantasy football enthusiast.Art was preceded in death by his parents and son Jeff. He is survived by his wife Janet, daughter, Debbie (Kurt) Law, son, Paul (Traci) Felker, 9 Grandchildren Amy Wood, Danon (Cori) Law, Ian Law, Cullen Law, Brian (Teresa) Scott, Jennifer (Mike) Des Armo, Kristen Felker, Alex Felker and Presley Felker, and 6 Great Grandchildren; Aubrey, Kade, Keegan, Magnolia, Ashyr and Patrick.Memorials to honor Art may be made to Holy Name School, 121 S. Connor, Sheridan, WY 82801.A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Kane Funeral Home with Deacon John Bigelow officiating. A Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Holy Name Church with Father Robert Rodgers officiating. A Reception will immediately follow in the parish hall. A private inurnment will be held in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Father Glenn Whewell officiating.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
