Anita Andersen Badgett passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Age of 76, with her husband Rick, sons' Jeremy and Aaron and granddaughter, Emily by her side.
Anita was born April 18th, 1948 in Tremonton, Utah to Stan and Bernice Andersen. She was a graduate of Bear River High School and Utah State University, with a degree in Special Education. Anita's first teaching position was at Lincoln Elementary in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
After teaching special education for a few years, Anita started working at the Southwest Wyoming Work Activity Center for Handicapped adults.
Anita met Rick Badgett in Rock Springs, WY while he was teaching at Rock Springs East Junior High. They were married on July 31, 1976, in Tremonton, Utah. After their wedding, they moved from Rock Springs to Big Horn, Wyoming, where Anita taught special education at Clear Creek Elementary in Buffalo, Wyoming and Rick taught at Central Jr. High School.
In 1977, Anita started teaching at Sheridan County School District #2. She taught at Woodland Park Elementary, Central Jr. High School, Meadowlark Elementary and Sheridan High School.
Upon leaving Sheridan High School, Anita started working at Easter Seals of Wyoming until she retired. Anita was the Area Four Director for Wyoming Special Olympics. She also coordinated the Festival of Trees for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, PEO Chapter AB, and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rick of 48 years; their sons' Aaron (Amy) and Jeremy (Megan); Grandchildren; Emily (Chris), Isabelle, Lana, Lane, Parker, and Maia. Her brothers'; Ron (Kathleen) and Marlon (Vala); and sisters' Glenna (Scott), Lana (Walt), and Myrna (Jeff).
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Thursday, November 7th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside burial at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
A reception will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church directly following the graveside service. Memorials to benefit St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
